Encampment dealt two conference loses
The Encampment Lady Tigers had two games last week, hosting the Saratoga Lady Panthers Thursday and traveling to face the Little Snake River Valley Lady Rattlers Friday. Though the Lady Tigers didn’t come away with a win, they fought their way through eight sets and dug into both their opponents.
Starting Thursday evening the Encampment Lady Tigers hosted the Saratoga Lady Panthers for a big cat fight. Both teams had a large cheering section with chants and fans rattling the bleachers. Encampment held down their home court in the 1st set winning 25-19. The Lady Panthers were fast to come back in the 2nd and 3rd sets, winning 25-15 in the 2nd set and 25-21 in the 3rd set. The 4th set had fans from both sides screeching with excitement. The teams were neck-and-neck most of the match and were now almost point-for-point in the 4th set nearing the end of the heated match. The Encampment Lady Tigers won the 4th set 25-21 sending the game into a tie breaking5th set. The Saratoga Lady Panthers took their chance to pounce and quickly finished the5th set 15-9. The evenly matched teams finished the night strong before their Friday matches.
Traveling to the Little Snake River Valley, the Encampment Lady Tigers faced the Lady Rattlers playing a total of three sets at the Friday match. The Lady Rattlers showed their fangs in the 1st set, biting into the Lady Tigers and winning the set 25-10. The Lady Tigers would gain some ground in the second set, scoring 15 points against the Lady Rattlers, though LSRV would sink in their teeth winning the second set 25-15. The Lady Rattlers continued into the third set winning 25-9.
A pigtail play-in game against the Farson-Eden Lady Pronghorns on October 25 was Encampment’s last chance to enter the 1A West Regional Tournament. The Lady Tigers ultimately lost the pigtail game and ended their season..
