Saratoga deal loses to two Tiger teams
The Saratoga Lady Panthers played two games last week, traveling to Encampment Thursday and hosting Niobrara County on Friday. Playing a total of eight sets against both Tiger teams the Lady Panthers fought a series of big cat fights.
First facing off against the Encampment Lady Tigers, the Lady Panthers were welcomed into the first set with a bite. Encampment winning the first set 25-19. Saratoga dug deep to win the 2nd set 25-15 and the 3rd set 25-21. Leading the team in digs was Whitney Bennett with 28, Josie Little with 17 and Sadie Bangs with15 digs.
Saratoga served a total of 4 aces led by Lady Panther Piper Gray with 2 Aces. The Encampment Lady Tigers came back in the fourth set winning 25-21, putting the game into an exciting fifth set.
Bennett led the attack with 18 kills of the team's total 42. The Lady Panthers slashed into the fifth set quickly winning the set 15-9 as well as the match.
Playing a fast three sets against Niobrara County Lady Tigers the Lady Panthers defended their court in the non-conference match. Slashing into the first set Saratoga won 25-18. The Lady Panthers were ready to attack with 24 team kills led by Makenna King and Bennett with 9 kills each.
Showing their teeth and biting into the Lady Tigers, Saratoga continued into the second set winning 25-17. The Lady Panthers served up several aces Friday with 11 total, led by Hanna Lathrop with 5 and followed by Bennett with 4 aces.
The Lady Panthers pounced into the third set winning 25-13. Digging in their teeth the Lady Panthers had a total of 59 digs led by Whitney Bennett with 19 King with 16 and Little with 8 digs.
The Saratoga Panthers will face the Burlington Lady Huskies at 11:30 a.m. on October 29 to begin the 1A West Regional Tournament in Lander.
