Lady Tigers take to Thermopolis

The Encampment Lady Tigers traveled to the Bobcat Invitational in Thermopolis over the weekend and netted six games over October 1 and 2. Encampment tied against three opponents and only took one loss over the weekend.

The Encampment Lady Tigers first faced the Wind River Cougars on Friday. Encampment won the 1st set 21-19. With Wind River quickly returning to win the 2nd set 21-19, the match ended in a tie for both teams.

Facing the Big Piney Punchers, the Encampment Lady Tigers lost the 1st set 21-17 to Big Piney. The Lady Tigers gained ground taking the 2nd set 21-11 ending the match in tie.

The Rocky Mountain Lady Grizzlies took a bite out of the Encampment Lady Tigers in the 1st set 21-15. Also slashing into the 2nd set the Lady Grizzlies won 21-20. This would be the Lady Tigers’ only loss of the weekend.

The Encampment Lady Tigers tied with the Riverside Lady Rebels. The scores were not available at the time of print.

The Encampment Lady Tigers won their second match against the Wind River Lady Cougars bjt scores were not available as of press time.

The Shoshoni Lady Wranglers faced off in three sets against the Encampment Lady Tigers in a championship match. The Lady Wranglers roped the Encampment Tigers in the first set at 27-25. The Lady Tigers bit back quickly, winning the second set 25-17. The Lady Tigers finished the match slashing into the third set winning 15-12.

Head Coach Robin Brown said, “We were a little slow starting as a team during the pool play. We were able to have a lot of team building time which helped us pull together to win the bracket. We had struggles in certain areas, such as serving, but we were able to overcome this by playing scrappy and aggressive with every ball over the net.”

Brown continued, “I am very proud of the girls and we will take the wins as momentum moving into this next week with two conference games and a non-conference game.”

The next conference match for Encampment Lady Tigers will be against the Saratoga Panthers on October 7 in the Saratoga gym.
