Lady Panthers dealt two losses

Saratoga falls to LSRV, Cokeville in conference games

The Saratoga Lady Panthers were dealt an 0-2 weekend as they were hosted by the Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Lady Rattlers and the Cokeville Lady Panthers.

The Lady Panthers traveled to LSRV’s home net on Friday. The Lady Rattlers showed their fangs first thing winning the 1st set at 25-23. Continuing to defend their net, LSRV took a bite out of the Lady Panthers winning the 2nd set at 25-18.

The Lady Panthers dug their heels into the 3rd set with 79 match digs. Leading in digs was Whitney Bennett with 20, Emelia Anderson with 15 and Hanna Lathrop with 14.

Makenna King served 4 aces Shelby Knotwell served 3 and Hanna Lathrop served 2 aces.

Saratoga scored 25 kills as a team and had 134 attacks.

The Lady Panthers were led by Whitney Bennett with 10 kills and 42 attacks followed closely by Makenna King with 8 kills and 39 attacks.

The Lady Panthers clawed at the Lady Rattlers in the third set with a 25-21 win. LSRV was quick to strike back in the fourth set winning 25-15.

Traveling to Cokeville Saturday, Saratoga’s lady netters had a Panther cat fight. Cokeville kept a lead on the Saratoga Lady Panthers through all three sets. Cokeville sank their teeth into the Lady Panthers winning 25-9 in the first set.

Whitney Bennett Led the Saratoga Panthers in digs with 11. Followed by Olivia Everett with 7 digs, closely behind Shelby Knotwell and Makenna King with 6 digs each.

The Cokeville slashed at the Saratoga netters in the 2nd set, winning 25-14. Leading the team’s 68 attack total Makenna King with 16 attacks. Followed by Makenna King with 14, Makenna King with 13 and Hanna Lathrop with 9 attacks.

Playing only three sets the Lady Panthers of Cokeville finished the third set at 25-16. Saratoga scored a total of 15 kills led by Whitney Bennett with 7. Makenna King scored 4 kills followed by Emelia Anderson with 2 kills. Though the Saratoga Lady Panthers were not victorious at Saturday’s game, they showed commitment and heart, continuing to gain ground on Cokeville into the 3rd set.

The Saratoga Panthers will next play in Thermopolis at the Thermopolis Invitational October 1 and 2.
