Tigers take to Torrington

Encampment track and field competes at Wiseman Invite on May 7

Encampment's track and field athletes finished out their regular season with a trip to Torrington on Friday to compete in the Wiseman Invite, giving them a confidence boost before the 1A West Regional Qualifiers this weekend in Shoshoni.

"We had another good day for a track meet," said Head Coach Kegan Willford. "We saw some personal bests again this week and our 4x100 boys relay ran a pre-qualifying time, which should take some pressure off those boys at regionals."

Girls at Wiseman

In the track events, Allison Bromley competed in the 100 meter dash to finish with a time of 14.72 seconds and was followed by Kayla Smith with a time of 15.67 seconds. Bromley also competed in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 20.66 seconds.

Smith competed in the 400 meter dash, finishing in 1 minute and 19 seconds. In the 1600 meter run, Amber Stubbs finished with a time of 6 minutes and 24 seconds.

In the field events, Lizzi James placed 4th in both the shot put and the discus. In the shot put, she threw for a distance of 33 feet, 22.5 inches. Meanwhile, in the discus, she threw for a distance of 95 feet, 1 inch. Bromley competed in the triple jump, finishing with a distance of 28 feet, .75 inches.

Boys at Wiseman

Beginning with track events, Dalton Peterson competed in the 100 meter dash and finished with a time of 12.13 seconds. Peterson was followed by Bryce Reid, who finished with a time of 13.97 seconds. Reid also competed in the 110 meter hurdles, placing 4th with a time of 20 seconds.

Lane LaBorde competed in the 400 meter dash, finishing with a time of 1 minute and 1 second. In the 400 meter relay, the team of LaBorde, Quade Jordan, Koye Gilbert and Peterson prequalified for the state meet with a time of 48.38 seconds.

In the field events, Peterson placed 2nd in the discus with a distance of 133 feet, 3 inches and was followed by Kaben Pickett in 7th place with a distance of 116 feet, 9 inches and Gilbert in 8th place with a distance of 116 feet, 1 inch. Jordan also competed in discus, throwing for 109 feet, 7 inches and Kyle Nuhn threw for 77 feet, 4 inches.

In shot put, Jordan placed 4th with a distance of 44 feet, 9.5 inches and was followed by Peterson in 5th place with a distance of 43 feet, 2.5 inches. Pickett threw for a distance of 41 feet, .5 inches, Gilbert threw for a distance of 36 feet, 3 inches and Nuhn threw for a distance of 34 feet, 5 inches.

LaBorde competed in the triple jump, finishing with a distance of 29 feet, 7 inches. Reid competed in the long jump, finishing with a distance of 14 feet, 11 inches.

Encampment begins to bring their season to a close as they head to the 1A West Regional Qualifiers in Shoshoni on May 14.
