Saratoga athletes prequalify early in the season

The track and field athletes of Saratoga Middle High School appeared to have a successful outing on March 24 as they competed in the Green River Invite. Three of Head Coach Rex Hohnholt's student athletes prequalified in five different events, reducing some stress early in the season.

Saratoga Girls

In the 100 meter dash, Sam Fiedor finished with a time of 15.35 seconds and was followed by Olivia Everett with a time of 15.39, Tasia Daley with a time of 16.57 and Jaden Campbell with a time of 17.84. In the 200 meter dash, Savannah Wells came in 9th, finishing with a time of 31.12 seconds. Everett followed with a time of 31.45, Kaitlyn Campbell finished with a time of 32.76 and J. Campbell finished with a time of 37.69.

In the 400 meter dash, Whitney Bennett finished 3rd with a time of 1:04.51 and prequalified for state. K. Campbell followed Bennett with a time of 1:12.30 and J. Campbell finished with a time of 1:26.59. In the 800 Meter Run, Marilee Williams finished with a time of 3:15.75 and, in the 1600 meter run, Williams finished with a time of 6:56.03.

Bennett prequalified in the long jump, placing 3rd with a distance of 15 feet, 5.5 inches. Wells also prequalified in the long jump as she placed 4th with a distance of 15 feet, 3 inches. Everett followed with a distance of 12 feet, 11.5 inches and K. Campbell finished with a distance of 11 feet, 11.5 inches.

Bennett also prequalified in the triple jump, finishing 1st with a distance of 33 feet, 4.5 inches. K. Campbell came in 9th place with a distance of 29 feet, .5 inches. 

In the shot put, Fiedor threw for a distance of 23 feet, 6.5 inches and Daley threw for a distance of 15 feet, 2.5 inches. In the discus, Fiedor threw 66 feet, 3 inches and Daley threw 43 feet, 11 inches.

Saratoga Boys

While they didn't place in the top 10, three Saratoga seniors led the boys in the 100 meter dash as Noah Rimmer finished with a time of 12.35, Teegan Love finished with a time of 12.45 and Erik Pindeo finished with a time of 13 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, Love finished with a time of 26.33 and was followed by Geoffrey Johnson with a time of 28.11, Heston Fisher with a time of 28.14 and Brodee Barkhurst with a time of 29.57.

In the 400 meter dash, Gavin Bartlett finished with a time of 1:03.8 and was followed by Ethan Alvarado with a time of 1:04.43. In the 800 meter run, Grant Bartlett placed 6th, finishing with a time of 2:21.11 and was followed by Kelton Johnson in 7th place with a time of 2:21.47 and Grady Bartlett in 8th place with a time of 2:21.48. Grant Barltett also placed 10th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:06.24.

In the 1600 meter relay, the team of Alvarado, Johnson, Grady Bartlett and Grant Barltett finished in 7th place with a time of 4:07.99.

In the high jump, Love placed 7th with a height of 5 feet, 6 inches. Gavin Bartlett placed 3rd in the pole vault with a height of 9 feet. Love placed 10th in the long jump with a distance of 18 feet, 3 inches.

Noah Rimmer placed 5th in the shot put and prequalified for state with a distance of 44 feet, 7 inches. Rimmer also placed 6th in discus and prequalified for state with a distance of 126 feet.

Overall, Saratoga placed 10th with a total of 50 points.

Saratoga will compete at the Cheyenne East Invite on April 9 and will host the Burt Willford Memorial Invite in Saratoga on April 17.
