Councilmember Bob Keel resigns effective immediately
Councilmember Bob Keel officially resigned from the Saratoga Town Council during the April 6 meeting of the governing body. Keel, who was elected to the council during the 2018 General Election, read his letter of resignation early in the meeting under council comments.
Citing changes in his family life, Keel stated that he was choosing his family over the council. Keel was elected to a four year term along with Councilmember Jon Nelson and former mayor John Zeiger. Keel was appointed as mayor pro-tem by Zeiger shortly before the former mayor's resignation from the governing body in August 2020. Following the resignation of the former mayor, Keel served as acting chairman for council meetings and as mayor pro-tem until January 2021 when Creed James was appointed to the mayoral vacancy.
After reading his letter of resignation, Keel excused himself from the meeting and left the council chambers. James officially declared a vacancy on the council with letters of interest due to on April 16.
The Saratoga Sun will have a more in-depth article in the April 14 edition.
