Tigers take out Lingle, Southeast

Encampment secures two more wins before entering holiday break

The Encampment Tigers went into Christmas break with two more wins under their belt while on the road.

While in Lingle-Fort Laramie on Friday, the Tigers dispatched the Doggers with a nearly 40 point lead. Encampment then withstood the Southeast Cyclones to end the game with a nailbiter score of 58-55.

Tigers vs Doggers

When Lingle-Fort Laramie last hosted a Valley team before, it came with a loss to the Saratoga Panthers. The Doggers wouldn't fare much better when hosting Encampment as the Tigers ended the game with a lead of 35 points.

In the 1st quarter, Encampment put distance between themselves and Lingle-Fort Laramie as they ended the first eight minutes with a 21-6 lead. While the Doggers were able to put some points on the board before the half, the Tigers doubled their scoring as they ended the first half 42-15.

Though Lingle-Fort Laramie would manage to put some points on the board, 7 points in the 3rd quarter and 8 points in the 4th quarter, it did little to close the gap established by Encampment early on. The Tigers led 54-22 in the 3rd quarter and ended the game with a score of 65-30.

Tigers vs Cyclones

Following their win over the Doggers, Encampment went on to be hosted by Southeast where they pushed ahead in the first eight minutes. At the end of the 1st quarter, the Tigers led the Cyclones by a score of 26-13. As the game entered half-time, Southeast was able to close the gap and trailed Encampment 38-37.

The rest of the game would see the Cyclones continue to try and keep the lead very close. Eventually, Southeast would put themselves within 3 points of the Tigers and, with only seconds left, attempt to tie the game. That attempt, however, would fall short and Encampment would defeat the Cyclones with a final score of 58-55.

Following their wins on the road, the Encampment Tigers are 4-0 for the season. When they return, they will have two more away games as they are hosted by the 2A Pine Bluffs Hornets and the Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow Miners.

Encampment will face the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on January 7 and the MIners at 4 p.m. on January 8.
