Chamber to host tailgaiting competition
As the warmth of the summer months give way into the cooler days of fall, there’s nothing that hits the spot quite like a bowl of chili. Additionally, there’s nothing in the fall quite like a good tailgate party.
In that vein of thinking, the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce (S/PVCC) is hosting their inaugural Tailgate Party Fundraiser during the upcoming Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs game.
A great tailgate doesn’t happen without some good food or some good drinks, though. The S/PVCC is asking anyone who has a great chili recipe or a delicious Blood Mary recipe to enter the Chili Competition and Bloody Mary Sip Off at the Tailgate Party for a chance to win.
For the chili competition, there are three categories in which one can enter; red chili, green chili or vegetarian chili. In the case of the Blood Mary Sip Off, any variation of the classic Bloody Mary cocktail is accepted. The Bloody Mary mix will be served at the bar by volunteer bartenders. Competitors can come up with a name for their mix for the menu board and add some garnish with custom skewers for some added “oomph”!
People’s Choice voting for both will begin at 2 p.m. and end around 4 p.m with the winner to be announced before the end of the football game. The winner in each category will receive a cash prize and the first place Bloody Mary and first place Chili winner will receive a prize valued at over $150 courtesy of both Union Wireless and Brush Creek Distillery.
In addition to the Bloody Mary and Chili competitions, there will also be a corn hole competition. The winning team will take home a custom Wyoming Corn Hole set courtesy of Union Wireless.
All of the action will take place beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, at the Platte Valley Community Center. For more information or to enter, e-mail [email protected] or call 307-326-8855 by October 19.
