Running close to home

After Rawlins Invite last week, Saratoga to host Shana Ward Memorial Invite on September 25

Saratoga's long distance runners didn't have to go far on Friday as they competed in the Rawlins Invitational at the Sinclair Golf Course. While there, the cross country teams saw decent placings, which included the Bartlett Twins securing top spots as Grant Bartlett continues to defend his state championship this season.

Boys

Grant Bartlett secured yet another 1st place win on Friday, as he finished with a time of 17:40. Twin brother Grady Bartlett wasn't far behind as he came in 5th place with a finishing time of 18:37.

Following the Bartletts were Calvin Condict with an 18th place finish and a time of 21:22. Kelton Johnson finished in 28th place with a time of 23:39.

Girls

The Campbell sisters, Kaitlyn and Jaden, ran in the junior varsity race and secured 4th and 14th place, respectively. Kaitlyn finished with a time of 27:14 while Jaden came in with a time of 33:22.

In the girls varsity, Marilee Williams finished in 15th place with a time of 23:57 and Amber Stubbs came in 20th place with a time of 25:16.

This week, the cross country runners will be able to compete close to home as they host the Shana Ward Memorial Invitational at the Saratoga Hot Springs Resort golf course.

As has occurred so far this season, the runners will be split into several groups. Condict, Johnson and Brayden Barkhurst will run in the C1 race at 12:30 p.m. while Grant and Grady Bartlett will run at 3:15 p.m. in the B1 race. The B3 race will begin at 4 p.m. with Stubbs and Williams running and the B4 race will start at 4:10 p.m. with Kaitlyn and Jaden.
