R.P. Lumber buys Build-Rite

Two Build-Rite stores in Carbon County are now part of R.P. Lumber, an Illinois-based home improvement company with 71 locations across the country. The announcement was made in a press release on June 26.

“This is our list acquisition in Wyoming and we could not be more pleased to welcome Build-Rite Lumber and Supply’s great team to the R.P. Lumber family,” said Robert Plummer, President and CEO of R.P. Lumber in the press release. “Build-Rite Lumber and Supply is an excellent fit for our company and we are excited to serve the people of southern Wyoming. The Olson family built a wonderful business and we are truly humbled that they have given us the opportunity to build on their legacy. R.P. Lumber is also family-owned and our companies share similar cultures and values.”

Steve Olson, President of Build-Rite Lumber and Supply, also shared this thoughts on the purchase.

“This was a very important decision for our family,” said Olson. “We wanted to make sure that our employees, our customers and the communities that we serve would be in good hands. In selling to R.P. Lumber and the Plummer family, we know that will be the case. We’re very proud of the company our family built and we’re excited to see what the future brings.”

The transaction closed on June 26 and the first day of R.P. Lumber operating the stores was June 27. Build-Rite Lumber and Supply was founded in 1963 and R.P. Lumber was founded in 1977. R.P. Lumber has stores in Illinois, Missouri and Wyoming. The two stores in Carbon County are the first two stores for R.P. Lumber outside of Illinois and Missouri.
