Free Fishing Day

Every year in Wyoming the first Saturday in June is designated as a free fishing day. Any one wishing to, can fish the lakes and rivers of Wyoming without a fishing license with a few exceptions. Yellowstone National Park and the Wind River Reservations are excluded from this event. Fishing regulations still apply, so if anyone is thinking about taking advantage of the free fishing day next year they should check Wyoming Fishing Regulations at wyomingcarboncounty.com/images/fishing/fishregs.pdf or any place where fishing licenses are typically sold.

This year, free fishing day saw several families scattered around Saratoga Lake in hopes of bringing in a nice catch. However, free fishing day was cut short when rain started pouring down in the early afternoon and continued off and on all day.

Pelicans were the winners of the day as they swam the lake in search of fish.
