Expanding the family history book

Dear Editor,

One of my favorite books in the Saratoga Museum is “Saratoga and Encampment Wyoming: An album of Family History.”

Residents, tourists and researchers use this reference to the Platte Valley to explore and learn about their families. I would like to ask those with history in the Valley to reach out again to their families. Maybe there was not enough time with the last edition or maybe they always wanted to but thought they didn’t know enough details. We can turn staying at home into a positive with teaching children how to gather information, researching grandma and gramps and letting them learn your family history. It doesn’t need to be a long story. You can submit photos, timelines family trees, things you would like to see if you were looking for info about your family. It is a small time to give when you see people who read the book and grin or smile to see their family in this book. This is just the beginning of gathering information and pictures. If you submitted to the first book and would like to add to the family story ... perfect. Questions? Call the museum or my cell, 307-710-3226, and I would be happy to help. We have an amazing history in the Valley and wonderful people who carved our little bit of beauty in this world.

Signed,

Kimberly Givens
