Law enforcement has come to Medicine Bow

Former sheriff's deputy now serving as new marshal

COVID-19 did not stop the swearing in of Dave Redding as the new Marshal for the town of Medicine Bow. On March 30 at 6 p.m., before the town council, mayor and town clerk/treasurer, Redding was sworn in as the law enforcement officer for the town at the Medicine Bow Community Hall. It has been decades since Medicine Bow has had a Marshal. Because of the restrictions on how many people could be in the room, only Judy Redding, the new marshal's wife, was in attendance.

"I'm excited about it," Mayor Sharon Biamon said on Redding being the new law officer. "Not that we have tons of crime, but it is so nice knowing that help is so close if we need it."

Biamon did acknowledge that, because of wind projects going up nearby, the truck traffic had been heavy and sometimes speed limits were not obeyed.

"Its also great to have him slowing down traffic here in town," Biamon said.

Karen Heath, Town Clerk/Treasurer, was happy to see Redding come to the town.

"We are pleased to have a permanent law enforcement presence in Medicine Bow," Heath said. "This was one of the top priorities identified in community assessments.  We're happy to have an experienced officer of Wyoming on board."

Before coming to Medicine Bow, Redding was a deputy at the Carbon County Sheriffs Department.

Redding is getting the office ready and moving into the town of Medicine Bow. The transition has the officer busy.
