A list of local businesses and entities that have closed or amended operations due to concerns over coronavirus
As concerns over novel coronavirus (COVID-19) lead to closures of government offices, businesses and schools the Saratoga Sun will strive to keep our readers informed with as much up-to-date information as possible. Please make sure to check this page on a regular basis for updates as they come.
*UPDATE* 03/19/2020 5 p.m. - Governor Mark Gordon issued a statewide closure order of all public spaces until April 3. This includes schools, museums, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, coffee shops, self-service buffets, salad bars, gyms, conference rooms, employee cafeterias and theaters.
CLOSURES
Carbon County School District No. 2 - As of March 15, all schools within CCSD2 are closed from March 16 to April 3.
Sack lunches will be offered from March 17 to March 20 and March 30 to April 3 to students between 11 a.m. and noon at Saratoga Middle/High School, Encampment K-12 School, HEM High School (pick-up at bus lane), Medicine Bow Elementary School (pick-up in front of gym entrance) and Elk Mountain Elementary School (pull into bus lane). Each student will be allowed only one lunch per day. Lunches cannot be eaten on school grounds.
Additionally, the CCSD2 Central Office is closed to the public until April 3.
Carbon County Library System - Effective March 16, all Carbon County Library System locations will be closed until April 6. Digital library services are still available for patrons.
Town of Saratoga - All Town of Saratoga offices—Town Hall, police department, fire department, water treatment facilities—are closed to the general public effective as of noon on March 16 until further notice. The Not-So-Hot Pool is closed effective Monday afternoon, the Hot Pool is closed effective 8 a.m. March 17.
Town council meetings will still take place as scheduled with limited agendas.
Head Start Preschool - Head Start Preschool has followed the actions taken by CCSD2 and will be closed until April 3.
ExCel Preschool - ExCel Preschool has followed actions taken by CCSD2 and will be closed until April 3.
Sagebrush Senior Center - Sagebrush Senior Center is closed to the public and will not offer dine-in services until, at least, April 1. Lunches will still be provided by pick-up or delivery. Please call 307-327-5937.
Saratoga Senior Center - Saratoga Senior Center is closed to the public and will not offer dine-in services until, at least, April 1. Lunches will still be provided by pick-up or delivery. Please call 307-326-5564.
Platte Valley Community Center - The Platte Valley Community Center is closed until April 3. All scheduled events and meetings are cancelled at this time. PVCC staff can still be reached by email at [email protected] or by calling 307-321-3960 or 307-326-7822.
Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce - The Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce will be closed until April 3. Contact with CEO Leanna Jones may still be made via email ([email protected]), phone (307-326-8855 or 912-222-0238) or through Facebook.
Saratoga Recreation Department - The Saratoga Recreation Department is closed until further notice. All classes and activities are cancelled at this time. This includes youth basketball, shooting sports, gymnastics and volleyball. Missoula Children's Theater is also cancelled at this time.
Bridge Street Bargains - Bridge Street Bargains in downtown Saratoga is closed until March 31. It is requested that no donations to the thrift store are made at this time.
Town of Hanna - The Town of Hanna have closed offices to the general public until further notice.
Hanna Recreation Center - Following a special meeting of the Hanna Town Council, the Hanna Recreation Center is closed until further notice.
The Red Wagon, LLC - The Red Wagon in Encampment will be closed for the next two weeks. Story Time Saturday, scheduled for March 21, has been cancelled.
Town of Medicine Bow - The Town of Medicine Bow is closed until further notice.
Grand Encampment Museum - The Grand Encampment Museum will be closed beginning March 17 until further notice.
The Rustic Bar - Per Governor's orders, The Rustic Bar will be closed until April 3.
D's Bar & Grill - D's in Encampment, per Governor's orders, is closed until April 3 but will be offering package liquor from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily during the shutdown.
Whistle Pig Bar/Beaver Liquor - The Whistle Pig, south of Saratoga, will be closed until April 3 but still offers drive-thru service for package liquor and to-go food orders.
MODIFIED OPERATIONS
RNB State Bank: Saratoga Branch - While the RNB State Bank will remain open during regular business hours for the moment, they do offer mobile, web and phone banking as well as drive-thru services. Effective March 20, the lobby at RNB State Bank is closed except by appointment only.
The Grumpy Italian Eatery - The Grumpy Italian has temporarily suspended dine-in options for customers, but still offer carry-out and delivery. Please call 307-326-3210.
Bella's Bistro - Bella's Bistro has temporarily suspended dine-in options for customers, but will offer delivery and curbside pickup. Please call 307-326-8033.
The History Wolf Hotel and Restaurant - The Wolf Hotel will offer delivery and take out effective March 18 until further notice. Credit cards will only be accepted via phone transactions. Please call 307-326-5525.
The Beartrap Cafe and Bar - The Beartrap in Riverside, per Governor Gordon's orders, is closed to dine-in service. Curbside pickup is available and includes a "take and make/bake" option. Please call 307-327-5277.
Sweet Marie's Bakeshop - Sweet Marie's Bakeshop, per Governor's orders, is closed to dine-in service. Curbside pickup and delivery are available. Please call 307-326-3244 or visit http://www.sweetmariesbakeshop.com.
Platte Valley Clinic - Platte Valley Clinic has implemented modified operations effective March 16. Phone consultation will be made for those with urgent needs or questions/concerns. Patients who would like a phone consultation can call the clinic at 307-326-3169. Refills requested for medications can still be made, please call 307-326-5129.
Carbon County Offices - While the Carbon County Library System, Carbon County Senior Citizens and Carbon County Museum are closed until April, essential county offices will remain open. The Carbon County Commissioners are asking that if there is essential business to be done that residents contact the appropriate office to ensure they have the proper paperwork to limit the number of trips. Additionally, those who are ill, have recently been ill or have traveled to a COVID-19 hot zone are requested to conduct business with the County through the mail or the dropbox on the south side of the County Courthouse.
United States Forest Service Brush Creek/Hayden Ranger District - The USFS is requesting that visitors self-assess before entering the district offices in Saratoga. After self-screening—have you been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or have you had a fever or any flu symptoms in the last 24 hours—visitors can contact the office to obtain entrance. Valley Pharmacy - Valley Pharmacy is keeping their regular hours, but recommend that customers call for prescription refill requests. If you are expecting new prescriptions, please call to verify that it has been received and is ready for pick-up. Please call 307-326-5129.
Firewater Public House - Firewater will be ceasing dining room service effective March 18, though the deck is still open to guests. Until further notice, Firewater will do delivery service during regular business hours and offer curbside pickup. Please call 307-326-FIRE(3473).
Laura M's Gallery, Backroom and Home on the Range - The trio of Laura M's stores will be closed until further notice. Customers, however, are invited to shop at http://www.lauram.com.
Union Wireless - Union Wireless stores, such as the one in Saratoga, will remain open but are currently closed to walk-in customer traffic.
Edward Jones - Edward Jones Financial Services in Saratoga is operating on regular business hours, but is currently closed to walk-in customer traffic.
Valley Foods - Valley Foods in Saratoga will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week until further notice.
Family Dollar - All Family Dollar locations will close at 8 p.m. local time. This includes the Family Dollar in Saratoga.
Engineering Associates - Engineering Associates will maintain regular office hours, but is closed to the general public.
CANCELLATIONS
Ol' Casino Night - The Lions Club "Ol' Casino Night" originally scheduled for March 20 has been cancelled.
13th Annual Wyoming Open - The Wyoming Open Pool Tournament has been "postponed with no replacement date." The next Wyoming Open will be considered the 13th Annual.
Wyoming Game and Fish Season Setting Meeting - All season setting meetings by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department will be moved to an online forum. Participants will be able to watch recorded videos that address regulations and various hunting seasons. Videos will be posted on the Public Meetings Webpage (https://wgfd.wyo.gov/Get-Involved/Public-Meetings) on March 26. Public comment will be open until April 3.
Bingo Night - The Medicine Bow Lion's Club Bingo Night has been cancelled.
