SCWEMS Representative Weiland reports to Riverside Town Council
The Riverside Town Council meeting of February 13 was as short as the agenda.
An update was provided by Helen Weiland, representative for the South Central Wyoming EMS Joint Powers Board on their new hire. According to Weiland, they are having issues with the EMS state office certifying the paramedic even though the person who was hired is on the national registry and her license is good nationally. Weiland said, “The state is just dragging their feet.” It could take as long as six months to get her Wyoming license even though Wyoming is supposed to have reciprocity. In the meantime, the SCWEMS Joint Powers Board has had to offer her a position at a lesser hourly rate as an ambulance driver.
The only other item of action during the meeting was the Region 3 Mitigation Plan, a document by the state to identify activities which can reduce or eliminate the risk residents of Wyoming face from natural hazards. This document is available at https://www.wsspc.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Final_Wyoming-State-Mitigation-plan_012516.pdf. A motion was made and passed to approve the Mitigation Plan.
The Special Purpose Tax Joint Power Board will have its first organizational meeting on February 19 and the next Riverside Town Council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on March 12, 2020.
