Town council hires Kevin Shue as chief of police
A special executive session was held before the Encampment Town Council meeting on January 9 where the Council interviewed an applicant for the vacant police officer position. Encampment has been without a police officer for approximately three months. During the meeting, the motion was passed to hire Carbon County Sheriff Deputy Kevin Shue as the chief of police starting February 1.
The floor was opened to guests Sid Fox, Carbon County Planning Director, and Sue Jones, County Commissioner who provided the council with an overview of Brush Creek Ranch’s activities on Green Mountain. Fox and Jones had also attended the Riverside Town Council, see “Riverside talks Green Mountain” on page 12 of this week’s Saratoga Sun. In response to the summarization of Brush Creek Ranch activities, Mayor Greg Salisbury stated, “We’re not concerned as to what they are using it for, just as long as they are following the rules. That’s our concern.”
The next meeting of Encampment Town Council will be at 7 p.m. on February 13 at the Encampment Town Hall.
