Tigers take three more

Encampment comes away 3-0 after Dogger Invite

The Encampment Tigers were able to go into the holiday break with three more wins after attending the Dogger Invite in Lingle-Ft. Laramie over the weekend. While leads were similar to what was seen at the Carbon County Classic the weekend before, the closest game for the Tigers was against the Kaycee Buckaroos on Friday where Encampment won by 6 points.

The Tigers saw major leads against the hosting Lingle-Ft. Laramie Doggers and the Midwest Oilers, with a lead of nearly 50 points against Midwest.

Tigers vs. Buckaroos

Beginning on Friday, Encampment hit the hardwood against the Buckaroos. Last season, while Kaycee had made it to the 1A State Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the east, they were quickly knocked to the consolation bracket and eventually placed 4th at the tournament. While still the preseason, the Buckaroos appeared to put a little bit of heat on the Tigers.

Encampment, however, would not let Kaycee get away with a win. Despite the pressure from the Buckaroos, the Tigers came away with a win of 58-52.

Tigers vs. Doggers

Following their win against Kaycee on Friday, the Tigers faced the hosting Doggers on Saturday and came out onto the hardwood with a win in their sights. The 1st quarter saw Encampment put 21 points on the scoreboard while the Doggers would only manage 10 points. In the 2nd quarter, the scores were a bit closer as the Tigers added 16 points and Lingle-Ft. Laramie scored 12. Encampment went into half-time with a score of 37-22.

In the second half, it appeared as if Lingle-Ft. Laramie had lost their motivation. Encampment put 17 points on the board in the 3rd quarter while the Doggers only managed 9. In the final quarter, the Tigers put up another 17 points and Lingle-Ft. Laramie scored only 6 points.

The final score against the Doggers would see the Tigers with a lead of 71-37.

Tigers vs. Oilers

Later that day, Encampment faced the Oilers and took down Midwest with a significant lead. While the Tigers would end the game with 62 points, Midwest wouldn’t even break the 20 point mark as they only scored 14 points across all four quarters.

Following their wins over the weekend, Encampment is now 7-0 for the season. While they will have a short break over the holidays, the Tigers will host two games just after the New Year. Encampment will host the Rock River Longhorns at 4 p.m. on Jan. 3 and the North Park Wildcats on Jan. 4 at 4 p.m.
