MHCC ads 2019 ambulance to current fleet of emergency vehicles
The newest addition to the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County (MHCC) ambulance fleet was received Dec. 12. Members from the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County Foundation Board and Board of Trustees were on site to present a check to the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team. Funds raised from the 1st Annual Foundation Fun Scramble were donated to MHCC for the purpose of assisting with the purchase of the new ambulance. Through a wide array of community support, the first time event was extremely successful and surpassed all initial goals. In total, $21,183 was raised.
The 2019 Ford F350 Ambulance features several amenities to better serve both patients and EMS staff. A self-lifting Stryker Cot allows EMS to quickly and safely load patients without any potential of injury. The interior has a 5 piece- safety harness system, LCD touch screens for controls, LED lighting, and ample compartments for storage capability. In addition, the liquid ride suspension option ensures a smoother, more comfortable ride for patients. Exterior lighting and improved reflective decals provide added visibility and safety for EMS staff on the scene of an accident. 4WD and elevated chassis provide accessibility to a variety of accident locations.
The MHCC EMS Department, made up of nine full-time and 10 part-time employees, serves all of Carbon County and assists with patients in surrounding counties as well. An average of 1,100-1,600 ambulance calls happen every year.
The MHCC Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 Organization committed to ensuring the continued growth of MHCC by assisting the hospital with funding for essential capital improvements and state-of-the art technology and equipment.
