PVAC to host chamber social at community center
The Platte Valley Arts Council will be hosting a Chamber After Hours Social on Friday Nov. 1 from 4-7 p.m. at the Platte Valley Community Center. The evening will include a celebration of all forms of the arts as well as fellowship amongst other chamber members and art patrons. The general public is also welcome to attend and enjoy the great food and drink.
The Platte Valley Arts Council is an organization which exists to foster awareness of and participation in any form of the arts, with the aim of developing vibrant and cohesive communities. Current leaders on the board include Alyson Sneddon (President), Stacy Crimmins (Treasurer), Mary Martin (Secretary), Shannon Fagan Craig, Brekke Munks, Judy Stepp and Emma Diercks. Currently, there are two open positions on the board and PVAC is seeking interested people.
The PVAC strives to recognize and promote all forms and levels of art–visual, musical, theatrical, dance, and literary-in the Platte Valley, consisting of the communities of Saratoga, Encampment, Riverside and Ryan Park. The PVAC is keeping a watchful eye towards new and cutting edge work and advocates the importance of the arts in our lives each and every day. Advocating for art is a central task for the PVAC. If you are up to the challenge and want to bring fulfillment into your life as well as into others’ lives, please consider becoming a board director or a member of the PVAC.
The third annual hay bale sculpture competition is underway now. This contest is very popular, and one can vote by going to the PVAC’s Facebook Page: @PlatteValleyArts. This year’s winner will be announced at the Social.
Story Time, the Little Free Library and the Book Club continue to be very popular and readers of all ages are encourage to participate in the monthly programs. For adults needing a little creativity in the evenings, Crafts, Chats and Cheers has been a great way to meet other free-spirits in the community.
The PVAC also awards three scholarships each year, hosts regional musicians in the schools, conducts free art workshops for kids, features an artist each month on their Facebook page and has been working on a large public art project.

Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at The Red Wagon in Encampment and the Platte Valle Community Center in Saratoga. Those interested in the mission of the PVAC are always welcome to attend.
