Tigers tear into Mustangs

Encampment hosts NCHS junior varsity for a 53-14 victory

A cloudless, if slightly chilly day, greeted the Encampment Tigers as they hosted their first home game on Saturday. Welcoming the Natrona County High School (NCHS) junior varsity, the Tigers were quick to score against the young Mustangs. For nearly three quarters, Encampment would ensure NCHS remained scoreless as they started the "mercy clock" near the end of the third quarter.

In the first quarter, NCHS appeared unprepared for the Tigers as they ran the field. A 24 yard pass from Reid Schroeder received by Dalton Peterson and an 8 yard pass from Schroeder to Michael Anderson put Encampment into double digits. Going into the second quarter, the Tigers led NCHS 20-0.

As the second quarter got underway, the young Mustangs increased their defense and, while still not scoring, limited Encampment to only one touchdown which came from a 30 yard rush by Peterson.

The third quarter saw the Tigers continue scoring as they added another 21 points to the scoreboard and, at one point, leading 46-0. With a running clock, NCHS managed to get 7 points on the board.

In the fourth quarter, the young Mustangs scored another 7 points while Encampment scored another 6 points. As the clock ran down and the game came to an end, the Tigers would leave the field with a 53-14 victory over the NCHS junior varsity.

The Encampment Tigers will host the NCHS sophomores at 1 p.m. on Oct. 19.
