Sandy Miller was called home by her Lord and Savior on Oct. 9, 2019 at Grace Pointe Retirement Home and Hospice Care Facility in Greeley, Colo.
Sandy Miller was born in Clifton Forge, Va. on Aug. 19, 1938 to Joseph William Ford and Kathryn Leila Tate.
At a very young age, the family moved to San Diego, Calif. where Sandy grew up and went to school. She graduated from Pacific Beach High School in San Diego in 1956.
Sandy worked for General Dynamics in San Diego, Calif. as a secretary. This is where she met her husband, Lawrence (Dutch) Miller in 1961. Sandy and Dutch married on Oct. 12, 1962. During their marriage, Sandy and Dutch had three children; Dan Miller, 1960, Scott Miller, 1963, and Mike Miller, 1966.
Sandy and Dutch Miller moved to Encampment, Wyo. in 1970 where they raised their family and operated the local hardware store, Beaver Valley Hardware, for approximately 25 years.
Sandy had many hobbies and interests in her spare time between raising her three sons. She enjoyed going camping and fishing, even though most of the time while fishing she would just watch. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting, which won her many awards at the county fair. She also collected salt and pepper shakers. Sandy was a long-time member of the Encampment Garden Club.
Sandy is survived by her husband Lawrence (Dutch) Miller of Greeley, Colo., her son Dan Miller, her daughter-in-law Dona Miller and two grandsons, Scott and Caden Miller of Montgomery, Texas; step-son Jerry Miller of Fullerton, Calif.; step-daughter Tamera Smith of Lakeside Calif,; brother-in-law Kenny Miller and wife, Bonnie, of Greeley, Colo. and brother-in-law Keith Miller of Fort Collins, Colo.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Ford, Kathryn (Tate) Ford, step-father Ted Bair and two of her three sons; Scott Miller and Mike Miller.
A memorial service will be held at the Encampment Presbyterian Church, 918 Ranking St. in Encampment, Wyo. at 11 a.m. on Oct. 17, 2019.
