Encampment Lady Tigers take a set from Rock River, go 1-3 against Lady Longhorns on Friday
The Encampment Lady Tigers hit the road on Friday as they traveled to Rock River to take on the Lady Longhorns. Encampment dealt with two conference losses the week before and intended to use a non-conference game to work on their play. While visiting Rock River, the Lady Tigers were able to secure a win in at least one set.
“The girls came out fighting against Rock River,” said Robin Brown, head coach of the Lady Tigers. “They played hard and were successful defensively through sets 1-3, building each set to get better and better. We were not able to carry the intensity through the 4th set, but overall I am proud of their work and teamwork.”
Encampment was able to keep things close and prevent the Lady Longhorns from running away with the score as the Lady Tigers went 20-25 and 18-25 in the first two sets. In the third set, the Encampment girls managed to turn the game around and ended it with a score of 25-23.
It was in the fourth set, however, that Rock River managed to evade the Lady Tigers as they ended with a score of 8-25. With the game against the Lady Longhorns behind them, Encampment is looking towards the conference games against the Farson-Eden Lady Pronghorns (2-5, 0-1) at noon on Sept. 27 and the Cokeville Lady Panthers (15-5, 1-0) at 10 a.m. on Sept. 28.
“This next weekend is a big one for us. We need to start finishing and winning some games,” Brown said. “We will continue working this week on defensive coverage and converting the great digs we already get into aggressive offensive plays. The girls have worked the last weeks on accuracy offensively and communicating to make each other better. It should be an exciting weekend.”
