Med. Bow council in need of two council members
The Medicine Bow Town Council selected a new mayor within minutes after on Thursday at the Medicine Bow Community Hall. The council members present were Trevor Strauch, John Cowden and Sharon Biamon.
Biamon was selected and is the first female mayor in the town's history.
Kevin Colman resigned as mayor at the Medicine Bow Town Council on Sept. 9 because he is moving to Montana towards the end of the month President of the Council Karla Denzin took over as acting mayor before resigning on Sept. 10. The meeting to elect a new mayor had been called before Denzin's resignation.
The town was without a mayor for a day and a half although no problems occurred because of this vacancy. According to Town Clerk Karen Heath, the town ran smoothly until the special meeting.
Once Biamon was selected, the council approved the resignation of Denzin. The next order of business at the special meeting was the approval of Resolution 2019-12 in which the town declared a vacancy on the council. The resolution was approved.
Baimon beings elected mayor leaves her seat open along with Denzin's seat. Two council members are needed to fill the vacancies.
Cowden said all interested parties should submit their names to the town hall.
Biamon wanted all names of interested candidates for the town council.submitted by Sept. 25.
The new mayor and council adjourned the meeting at 7:10 p.m.
A special meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Sept. 26 at the Medicine Bow Community Hall to select the two new council members.
