Policy favors new, winter events eventually weaning successful ones
The Carbon County Visitors’ Council (CCVC) mission is to promote events, tourism, and the hospitality industry in Carbon County. The CCVC Board of Directors feel that it is their fiscal responsibility to help ignite and establish as much tourism-focused growth as possible. An Event Advertising and Marketing Grant is designed to assist Carbon County organizations with advertising and marketing efforts in order to bring out-of-county attendees and participants to a specific event. The promotion and marketing of events in Carbon County should be driven by opportunities of low tourism numbers, typically falling after Labor Day and before Memorial Day weekend.
CCVC would like to encourage and grow events that occur outside of “peak” or “summer season”, the Friday prior to Memorial Day through Labor Day each year.
Event Advertising and Marketing Grant Changes beginning as of July 1, 2019:
New Grant funding will be based on expected and/or proven attendance and funded up to a maximum of $4,000 or $2,000 based on the time of year an event occurs. Peak season (Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day) events will qualify for up to a maximum of $2,000 and off season (Tuesday after Labor Day through Thursday prior to Memorial Day) events will qualify for up to a maximum of $4,000.
The availability of Event Advertising and Marketing Grants for any event is three years.
After three years of Grant awards, CCVC will take on advertising for those events by partnering with the organizations and promoting the events outside of Carbon County in order to bring in visitors to the events from outside our borders.
It is the hope of Carbon County Visitors’ Council that these changes will open funding for new events in Carbon County which will, in turn, bring in more visitors to our area. The first of three FY 2019-2020 Grant Sessions will be held on September 18, 2019. Grant applications for this Grant Session are due on or before Monday, August 19, 2019.
