Boaters warned to avoid Lower Encampment

Fish passage construction to cause rough portage and unnavigable conditions on the Encampment River between Baggot Rocks and the North Platte confluence

Due to a fish passage project on the Encampment River, a press release from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department said, “boaters are strongly discouraged from boating or floating the river downstream of Baggot Rocks Public Access Area beginning July 15.”

The construction site is situated downstream of Baggot Rocks and upstream of the confluence with the North Platte River.

Boaters will be able to launch at Odd Fellows or the Smelter and leave the river at Baggot Rocks.
