Local man charged with attempted murder for incident at Saratoga Lake
A Saratoga man could be facing life plus 35 years in prison for attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault and battery, strangulation of a household member and kidnapping.
According to the affidavit filled with the Circuit Court of Carbon County, on the night of May 22, authorities from both the Saratoga Police Department and the Wyoming Highway Patrol arrived at Saratoga Lake following a report of a woman yelling for help and saying her husband was trying to kill her.
After multiple knocks on the door of the trailer from the authorities, they were allowed entry by Kinsey Jade Vega, 26. Upon entering the trailer, authorities noticed what appeared to be blood on the floor of the trailer. A woman who was in the trailer with Vega told authorities that she had been struck in the face with Vega’s closed fist and had been choked.
Authorities also noticed discoloration and ligature marks on the woman’s neck and back. The woman told authorities that Vega had held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her. Furthermore, the woman explained that when she had attempted to escape the trailer but had fallen, she was drug back by Vega.
Following question of Vega and the woman, the woman was transported to Memorial Hospital of Carbon County where it was discovered that she had a hairline fracture in her nose, swelling and bruising along the left side of her head down to her jaw and an abrasion on the left side of her cheek. Examination also showed previous bruising and bite marks.
Vega was transported without incident to the Carbon County Detention Center and appeared in Circuit Court of Carbon County on Friday and was bound over to District Court of Carbon County. A trial date has not yet been set.
