Panthers impress in Shoshoni

Saratoga track and field leaves Regionals with All-Conference honors, looks to State meet in Casper

The Saratoga Panthers competed in the 1A/2A West Regional Invite in Shoshoni over the weekend, placing in several events and preparing for the State Track and Field Championship in Casper. Several student athletes left with All-Conference honors or as regional champions.

Girls at Regionals

Starting with the field events, Taylor Bennett placed 2nd in the triple jump with a distance of 32'8.5" and earned All-Conference honors. Following Bennett was Jenna Dew, who placed 5th in the triple jump with a distance of 32'3.5". Dew also placed 4th in the high jump with a height of 4'11".

Senior Shianne Baker placed 4th in discus with a throw of 94'8" and 5th in the shot put with a distance of 31'.75". Following Baker was senior Tiffany Bauer, who placed 6th in shot put with a throw of 30'9.5" and 8th in discus with a throw of 77'5".

In the track events, Savannah Wells placed 8th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 21.47. In the 100 meter dash, Baker placed 6th with a time of 13.9, Bennett placed 7th with a time of 13.94 and senior Mychaela Jackman placed 8th with a time of 14.21. Bennett also placed 4th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.34.

In the 400 meter relay, the team of Wells, Jackman, Baker and senior Melissa Pindeo placed 2nd with a time of 54.99. This finish earned the team All-Conference honors and was the first team from the 1A Southwest Conference to finish the relay.

In the 1600 meter relay, the team of Pinedo, Kaitlyn Campbell, Kelly Glode and Wells placed 2nd with a time of 4:42.05.

In the 1600 meter medley relay, the team of Campbell, Pinedo, Dew and Jackman placed 2nd with a time of 4:48.95 and earned All-Conference honors, being the first team from the 1A Southwest Conference to finish in the top two.

In the 3200 meter relay, the team of Sam Fiedor, Jaden Campbell, Nikki Bauer and Glode finished 3rd with a time of 13:05.94.

Boys at Regionals

`Beginning with the field events, senior Sam Schneider placed 1st in the high jump with a height of 6'6", making him regional champion, 2nd in the triple jump with a distance of 42'6.5" and 2nd in the long jump with a distance of 19'6". Schneider earned All-Conference honors in all three events.

Noah Rimmer placed 1st in the shot put with a distance of 45'.5", making him regional champion and earning him All-Conference honors. Rimmer also placed 5th in discus with a distance of 112'3".

Gavin Bartlett placed 1st in pole vault with a height of 11'0", making him regional champion and also earning him All-Conference honors.

On the track, Logan Seahorn placed 7th in the 100 meter dash, finishing with a time of 12.35. The 400 meter relay team of Jeremiah Debar, Rimmer, Teegan Love and Seahorn placed 1st with a time of 47.06, making them regional champions and earning the team All-Conference honors.

The 1600 meter relay team of Schneider, Love, Debar and Seahorn placed 2nd with a time of 3:47.72.

In the 1600 meter medley relay, the team of Love, Rimmer, Seahorn and Debar placed 3rd with a time of 4:03.86.

Finally, in the 3200 meter relay, the team of Geoffrey Johnson, Bartlett, Alex Irby and Kelton Johnson placed 3rd with a time of 10:10.39.

The State Track and Field Championship will begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, with the 3200 meter run.
