It is now May, and we all know what is going to happen in the next 120 days, right? There will be live music festivals, hiking, rodeos, car shows, picnics, beer gardens, fishing, floating, gardening, jet skis, family reunions, weddings, biking, craft shows and the list goes on.
You may know that one of several vital function of this Chamber of Commerce is to promote our members and tourism in the Platte Valley. How do we do that? By placing ads in regional media outlets, putting notices on the electronic marquee, sending packets of maps, brochures and rack cards all across the nation, answering hundreds of phone calls, helping thousands of visitors plan their stay, and maintaining our website.
We cannot (and should not) be doing this in a silo—we need everyone’s help.
We cannot promote what we do not know. The details of your event (like the time it starts and the ticket price) are important.
Your business’ new line of inventory may not be familiar to our staff.
We cannot hand out brochures from your organization if we do not have copies of them.
Your employees cannot tell visitors about the great hiking trails if they don’t know about them.
Will your waitresses recommend other places to eat?
It all comes down to the length of stay. Getting someone to stay an extra day infuses more cash into our economy.
How can we serve the THOUSANDS of people coming to visit the Platte Valley without everyone playing their part?
We simply cannot.
We must all practice the best customer services skills possible, know what events are happening each week, have a basic idea of where to find more information, know directions to our attractions, be able to recommend places to eat, etc.
This is why we will be distributing our “Frontline Cards” to our members in the next few weeks.
Please be sure your employees know how to use the information we are providing--because it WILL come back to benefit your business’ bottom line if we all work together!
Working for you,
Stacy and Sierra
