Saratoga track prequalifies four for State at makes twice rescheduled meet

The Saratoga Panthers, while originally scheduled to attend the Burns Invite on April 12, were supposed to attend the Okie Blanchard Invite in Cheyenne following a decision made by the track and field coaches. The invite, which had originally been scheduled for April 11, had been rescheduled for April 12, but was then rescheduled, again, for April 15. Despite the meet taking place on a Monday, the track and field athletes of Saratoga were still able to attend and did well, prequalifying several students for the State Championship.

Girls at Cheyenne

Beginning with the varsity field events, senior Tiffany Bauer prequalified for the State Championship in shot put following a throw of 31’9”. The throw also put her into 8th place in Cheyenne. Savannah Wells placed 6th in the long jump with a distance of 14’8”.

In the junior varsity field events, Jenna Dew prequalified for state in the triple jump, with a distance of 32’9.5”, and the high jump, with a height of 4’8”. Dew placed 1st and 2nd in both events, respectively. Dew also placed 2nd in the long jump, with a distance of 14’2.5”. Kaitlyn Campbell placed 3rd in the triple jump with a distance of 29’5.5”. Kelly Glode placed 7th in the long jump with a distance of 12’.5” and Heather Wallace placed 2nd in discus with a distance of 64’10” and 4th in shot put with a distance of 24’2.75”.

In varsity track, Wells placed 5th in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 17.95. That time also prequalified her for the State Championship. Following Wells was Mychaela Jackman, who placed 8th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.03.

In junior varsity track, K. Campbell placed 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.18, 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 54.18 and 8th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 32.09. Jaden Campbell placed 6th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 23.37. Melissa Pinedo placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 30.93, 3rd in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.92, 4th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 55.04 and 5th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 20.99

Boys at Cheyenne

All the boys who competed in Cheyenne did so at the junior varsity level, but still had one athlete prequalify for the State Championship.

In the field events, Noah Rimmer placed 1st in shot put with a distance of 41’2.25” and prequalified for state. Rimmer also placed 1st in discus with a distance of 97’2”. Teegan Love placed 1st in the high jump with a height of 5’6”, 1st in the long jump with a distance of 18’4.75” and 2nd in the triple jump with a distance of 37’5.5”. Gavin Bartlett placed 1st in pole vault with a height of 9’10”.

In the track events, Rimmer placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.64, Love placed 5th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.05. Jeremiah Debar placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.03 and 3rd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.67. Bartlett placed 1st in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:54.99 and Kelton Johnson placed 4th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:41.33.

The next meet for the track and field student athletes of Saratoga will be on Thursday as they head to the Pine Bluffs Invitational in Pine Bluffs.
