Judith Ann Gervais Riggles passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County with her husband by her side. She was 78 years old. Judy was born on June 27, 1940 in Sandstone, Minn. to parents Alfred and Treveline (Morin) Gervais. In 1950 she moved with her parents to Kelly Lake, Minn. where she attended Kelly Lake Elementary School and later Hibbing High School.
Judy married Maynard (Bill) Riggles on October 12, 1957 in Kelly Lake and later moved to Cass Lake, Minn.
In 1966, after their children started school, she attended Bemidji State University. Judy graduated in 1970 and accepted a teaching position in the Cass Lake School District. She retired in 2002 after 32 years of teaching her beloved students. The couple sold their farm and moved to Saratoga in 2005.
Judy enjoyed reading, gardening, and crocheting. She especially enjoyed sharing her love of the arts with her granddaughter, Jasmine. After the move to Saratoga, she discovered great joy in taking rides in the mountains and deserts with her husband.
She was preceded in death by by her beloved son, Richard William Riggles, her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Surviving Judy are her husband of 61 years, Bill; a daughter, Patricia Riggles Gervais; and two granddaughters, Jasmine DeVoto of Phoenix, Ariz, and Crystal (Robert) Jackson of Whigam, Ga. Also surviving is a brother, Dr. Robert (Betty) Gervais of Casper, three nieces, a nephew and numerous cousins.
