Early meet sends two to State

The Saratoga Panthers track team ventured to Casper over the weekend to participate in the National Invitational.

During the trip the team introduced two athletes to the list of those prequalified for State Track Tournament in May.

Women’s Varsity

Shianne Baker ran the 100 and 200 meter dashes and finished in 14.13 and 30.33 respectively. Baker also put a shot at 28’11” while in Casper but it was her discus throw of 96’3” that qualifies the Lady Panther for State.

Savanna Wells similarly participated in several events completing the 200 meter dash in 29.5 and flying to a 13’6.5” landing in the long jump. It was, however, Wells’ 6th place finish with a time of 17.97 in the 100 meter hurdles though that qualified her for State.

The rest of the women’s team performed as follows:

Taylor Bennett: 100 meter dash—13.85, 200 meter dash—29.48, long jump—13’02”. Bennett also took a 6th place finish in the triple jump with a 30’11.25” total.

Kaitlyn Campbell: 100 meter hurdles—20.57, 400 meter dash—1:11.07, , triple jump—26’6.”

Jenna Dew: 100 meter hurdles—19.07, 200 meter dash—32.50, triple jump—30’2”, long jump—13’02.75.”

Jaden Campbell: 400 meter dash—1:24.46, 100 meter dash—17.22.

Samanthan Fiedor: 100 meter hurdles—21.87.

Heather Wallace: shot put—22’2”, discus—64’7”.

Men’s Varsity

The men’s track team also put up respectable numbers in the springlike Casper weather Saturday. Their results are as follows:

Joey Gonzales: 1600 meter run—6:07.59.

Noah Rimmer: 100 meter dash—12.6, 200 meter dash—26.59, shot put—37’1”, discus—91’6”.

Greg Swanson: 100 meter dash—12.95, 200 meter dash—26.49.

Teegan Love: long jump—16’2.5”, high jump—5’2”.

Jeremiah Debar: 200 meter dash—26.81, 100 meter dash—13.16.

Gavin Bartlett: pole vault—8’10”, 1600 meter run—5:41.19

Kelton Johnson: 1600 meter run—5:42.72.

In the 1600 meter relay the team of Greg Swanson, Jeremiah Debar, Teegan Love and Kelton Johnson finished with a time of 4:14.63.

The team of Gavin Bartlett, Jeremiah Debar, Joey Gonzales and Kelton Johnson completed the 3200 Meter Relay in 9:50.71.

The next scheduled meet for the Saratoga track team is Saturday, March 30 at the Wheatland Invite in Wheatland.
