Tigers place two

Encampment track sends small team to Wind River Invite, Peterson and Miller place

A blizzard descending upon the Valley didn’t keep the Encampment Tigers from sending five members of their track team to Pavillion to compete in the Wind River Invite on Saturday.

“We had a small team this week due to most of our athletes not having enough practices,” said Kegan Willford, head coach of Encampment track.

Despite the small team, Encampment made its presence known as two members of the team placed in three events over the weekend. Dalton Peterson placed 6th in shot put with a distance of 36’8” while Kyler Miller placed 4th in 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.33 and 6th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.02.

Peterson also competed in the 100 meter dash, finishing with a time of 12.73, and threw a distance of 89’4.5” in discus. Miller competed in the triple jump where he would finish with a distance of 35’2”.

Along with Peterson and Miller, Dayne Anderson, Koye Gilbert and Michael Anderson also attended the meet. D. Anderson competed in the 100 meter dash, finishing with a time of 14.48, and threw distances of 34’6.5” and 91’.5” in shot put and discus, respectively. Gilbert completed the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.82 and threw a distance of 83’8.5” in discus. M. Anderson completed the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.84 and the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:04.74.

“We hope that the majority of our team will be able to compete in our next meet in Casper,” Willford said.

Encampment will be greeted by high temperatures of nearly 50 degrees as they compete in the Natrona Invite on March 22.
