Encampment Town Council thanks public works for clearing streets, hears sewer lagoon update
The roads in Encampment were cleared off enough Thursday evening for the Encampment Town Council to hold their regular meeting where they thanked the Department of Public Works (DPW) for the work done on clearing the streets. Mayor Greg Salisbury and the council, absent Bill Craig, also heard an update from Jon Nelson, of North Fork Engineering, on the progress of the sewer lagoon project.
While the snowfall began to dissipate on Thursday morning, there was still plenty of it for the Encampment DPW to remove. Due to the intensity of the storm, public works employees’ attempts to keep streets cleared Wednesday were unsuccessful as snow continued to fall. By 1:30 p.m., the DPW announced that they would wait until the following day to clear the streets, but would clear any paths needed by emergency responders.
Starting at 4 a.m. on Thursday morning, public works began plowing the streets of Encampment and were at it nearly all day. When the Encampment Town Council met at 7 p.m., however, Katrina Nuhn and Ben Tieszen were both in attendance despite the time spent behind the plow.
“You guys have done a really, really good job. We got extremely dumped on and everything looks really, really good,” said Salisbury.
Council member Kim Loftice echoed Salisbury’s comments, informing Nuhn and Tieszen that she had been hearing compliments at the Sagebrush Senior Center throughout the day.
With the sewer lagoon project, Nelson informed the council that he was still working on the study and report phase of the project, but would have a draft available for the Town of Encampment in the near future.
“The report’s coming together. Collecting a lot of data from past discharge reports and past samplings, starting to compile that. I do need to get a little measurement taken care of on the effluent side. I got the materials for that, just need to drill some holes for that,” said Nelson.
The regular meeting of the Encampment Town Council came to an end less than 30 minutes after it started. The next meeting of the Encampment Town Council will be at 7 p.m. on April 11 at Encampment Town Hall.
