Speech team places well in Worland, coach sees team getting stronger every week
This weekend, the Saratoga Speech Team will be heading up to Rawlins to take part in the Outlaw Invite. On Feb. 15 and 16, the team headed up to Worland to compete in their invite. The team, which is now down to four members, had their best performance all year, according to Head Coach Johnny Mercer.
“Shelby Randal made the break for semi-finals with her humor piece, Kaylyn Hunter made it semis with her poetry and Kaylee Hytrek finished 5th in poetry,” said Mercer. “In all, it appears the ladies are getting stronger each week and really honing their competitive skills.”
This weekend will be the closest meet to home for the speech team and will be the only opportunity Valley residents will have to watch the four member team perform. Following the meet in Rawlins, the State Speech Tournament will take place beginning March 7 in Riverton and the Wind River District tournament the weekend after, beginning March 14, in Green River.
