No quit in HEM

Coach sees good effort from Hanna wrestlers at Carbon County Invite in Saratoga

Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School wresting team went to Saratoga on Friday to compete at the Carbon County Invite that had 18 teams compete. The young Miner team scored some points but they were against some of the strongest competition in the state.

"The kids aren't afraid to try," HEM head wrestling coach Lyle Richardson, said. "I am proud of them for their attitude and not quitting when they came against kids that are state."

Adrian King who was wrestling at the 138 weight class scored points for the team as did David Cruz who wrestled in the 195 weight class.

"We had a couple tough first round draws with David Cruz drawing Hayden Walker of Kemmerer," Richardson said. Joseph Borah had a tough first round with Bentley Johnson of Cokeville."

Cruz wrestled in the 195 weight class and Borah in the 182 weight class.

Charlee Solaas, the lone female wrestler on the team, gave a good showing in the 126 weight class as she faced wrestlers from Pinedale and Cokeville although she did not come out on top in either match.

Nathan Roberts in the 132 weight class faced wrestlers from Big Piney an Burns. In this tough weight class, Roberts did his best but did not beat either wrestler.

"The team competed hard," Richardson said. "But someone has to lose and unfortunately we were on the losing side."

Josh Curtis in the 145 weight class facing wrestlers from Shoshoni and Big Piney. Dade Thackston in the 152 weight class faced wrestlers from Rawlins and Kemmerer. Both Miner grapplers did not win matches although they put forth a determined effort said Richardson.

"The team had some tough matches and although we are improving, we just have to keep working," Richardson concluded.
