Laramie Peak Therapies in Saratoga adds personnel, equipment
During recent health care meetings a call for more and expanded physical therapy services was raised.
Laramie Peak Therapies (LPT) in Saratoga has recently expanded staff and equipment in an effort to fulfill these needs.
New Faces
The therapeutic clinic, housed adjacent to the Saratoga Care Center, has been in business for over a year and a half but has just recently added Chelsea Pantel as a speech/language therapist (who also holds a certificate of clinical competence) and Elizabeth Brown as a physical therapy assistant.
According to Mark Pesognelli, administrator for both the Saratoga Care Center and LPT, Laramie Peak is currently also looking for an occupational therapy assistant to help out the current staff of Bradley Ferguson (physical therapist), Tammy Lane (occupational therapist) and Trina Kuster (who performs restorative services for both care center residents and Laramie Peaks clients).
New Equipment
Several new pieces of equipment have been added to complement the new staff. A tilt table, which allows standing pressure to gradually be applied for those who have had trouble standing, has been added along with therapy tables and a modalities machine, which allows for electrical and ultrasound stimulation.
The rooms at LPT are divided into three categories with the restorative equipment room housing the massage table, modalities machine, weights and stretching devices. The occupational room boasts parallel bars, balance boards and a bed for physical therapy work.
The physical room is mainly centered on cardio and endurance rehabilitation and holds the new tilt table along with an adjustable incline treadmill, a stationary resistance bicycle and a recumbent Nustep, which is basically a reclined bicycle that is more accessible for those who cannot lift their legs far. The Nustep also features a swivel chair which makes the machine easier for those in wheelchairs to use.
Lane, who is currently working on her doctorate along with treating patients, demonstrated that the equipment in use at LPT was adjustable to persons of different heights and weights.
Local and Accessible
Pesognelli wanted the people of Carbon County to know that a fully staffed and equipped physical therapy resource was available locally saying, "A lot of people have eventually come here because they hear about us on word of mouth, and they have been saying 'My God I have been going to Laramie, I didn't know you were here.'"
Pesognelli also stressed that outpatient therapy, as well as in-house care, is available for the community at the facility and Medicare and Medicaid is accepted, along with private insurance.
