Encampment Town Council assigns engineer to collect costs for possible projects, gets bid to work on mill, picks insurer
The regular meeting of the Encampment Town Council at 7 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the Encampment Town Hall was less than 30 minutes from beginning to end as Mayor Greg Salisbury and the council members, minus Gary Stull, went quickly through the agenda. Despite the rapid progression through the meeting, the council still addressed a number of issues.
Doreen Harvey, town clerk and treasurer, informed the council that John Farr had expressed interested in representing Encampment on the Carbon County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC). Farr’s recent health, however, brought pause to the council and it was decided to keep the CCEDC position open for the time being.
Salisbury asked the council to consider forming a task force to work with North Fork Engineering in getting pricing information for proposed projects for the Specific Purpose and Use Tax (6th Penny Tax). Projects that will be funded by the 6th Penny Tax are due on Nov. 9. The council voted unanimously to authorize a task force for North Fork Engineering.
The council also accepted a bid from Hi Power, LLC., based in Casper, for $106,875 for electrical work on the former Hammer Mill at the Grand Encampment Business Park in preparation for TNT Wood Products.
Wyoming Department of Transportation recently removed the temporary rumble strips that had been placed on Wyoming Highway 70 going into town. After some discussion amongst the council and with Encampment residents Bob and Ros Herring, the council decided not to purchase the rumble strips.
Finally, the council heard two proposals for property insurance. One came from Wyoming Association of Risk Management for $13,830 and another came from Hub International for $9,991. After brief discussion, the council opted to go with Hub International.
The next meeting of the Encampment Town Council will be at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the Encampment Town Hall.
