Miners gridders easily defeat Doggers, look for home cooking versus NSI Wolves
Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School football team went to Lingle/Ft. Laramie and continued their winning ways. The Miners are 4-0.
Zach Scott, the head football coach can’t help but be pleased with how the team is playing. “Team” is the operative word, according to Scott.
“We are 4 and 0 and we are coming together as a team, truly working hard to continue improving all aspects of the game,” Scott said. “This weekend was a great example of a collective effort.”
He said that there were five different players to score touchdowns and were very balanced on the offense.
It was not just the offense that made Scott happy with his team. The defense did well which is apparent by the score.
The Miners beat the Doggers 59 to 14.
There was one player that had an excellent defensive day according to Scott.
“The defensive side with Basil Phillips charting a great 17 tackle speaks for itself,” Scott said.
It is homecoming this weekend and the Miners are ready said Scott. The HEM Miners take on the Normative Services Academy Wolves that are 3-1.
“This week we have a very good NSI team coming to Hanna for our first true home game of the year,” Scott said.
Although the Miners are undefeated at this time of the year, Scott is not letting his team get overconfident.
“We will need to continue to improve as a team to get the win,” Scott concluded.
The next scheduled game is at 1 p.m. on Sept. 28 at Hanna.
