Cross Country runners get good measure against big competition in Littleton
The long-distance runners of Saratoga Cross Country crossed state lines Saturday to take part in the Liberty Bell Invitational in Littleton, Colo. where the boys' varsity placed 5th out of 25 teams, the two members of the girls' varsity ran against 185 runners and the boys' varsity ran against 232 runners.
Girls' Varsity
Kaitlyn Campbell finished in 119th, completing the race with a time of 25:50 while Shianne Baker finished 168th with a time of 30:23.
Boys' Varsity
Encampment junior Jarom Herring lead the team, finishing with a time of 17:59 and placing 25th out of 232 runners, putting him in the top 10 percent of the runners. Following Herring was Logan Seahorn, who placed 40th with a time of 18:27. Gavin Bartlett finished with a time of 19:08 and placing 63rd while Jeremiah Debar placed 81st after finishing with a time of 19:39. Kelton Johnson rounded out the finish with a time of 20:39 putting him at 120th place.
All four runners following Herring finished above or around the top 50 percent of the over 200 runners competing at the meet. These times propelled the five member team to 5th place in a field of 25 teams.
The next competition for Panthers Cross Country will be back in Colorado on Sept. 14 at the John Martin Invite in Fort Collins. Saratoga will then host their own cross country meet a week later on Sept. 21.
