Lady Tigers go 1-1 at tourney

Encampment volleyball team victorious over Lady Eagles, fall to Lady Rams at Saratoga Invite

The Encampment Lady Tigers found themselves with a stumbling start to their season as they competed in the Saratoga Invitation on Saturday with two wins and one loss during the one day tournament. Encampment faced off against the Wyoming Indian Lady Chiefs, the Dubois Lady Rams and the St. Stephens Lady Eagles. The more experienced Lady Tigers also played against one of the junior varsity Lady Panther teams during the event.

Lady Chiefs

The girls of Encampment worked to keep the Lady Chiefs at bay during the first match of the tournament, with one loss surrounded by two wins. The first set saw the Lady Tigers beat Wyoming Indian 21-17 while the second saw the Lady Chiefs answer back with a score of 10-21. Finally, in the third set, the Lady Tigers pulled out a victory at 15-10 putting them at 2-1 for the match.

Lady Rams

After defeating Wyoming Indian, the Lady Tigers took on Dubois but would end up with a 2-0 loss to the Lady Rams. In the first set, the Encampment girls fell 21-9 but would rally enough to close the gap in the second set with a score of 21-19.

Lady Eagles

Despite falling to the Lady Rams, the Encampment girls would see a 2-1 win against the Lady Eagles. In the first set, the Lady Tigers flew by St. Stephens with a score of 21-16 only for them to answer back in the second set 10-21. The girls of Tiger Nation roared back, however, in the third set with a score of 15-11.

Encampment will next be hosting Valley rivals the Saratoga Lady Panthers on Thursday starting at 5 p.m.
