Bow River FFA ranked in the top 250 of FFA chapters nationally
There was great news for the Bow River Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter in Hanna. The team of Jolynn Borah and T’lysa Solaas representing the Bow River FFA chapter has been named a finalist this year in the Animal Science category in Division 2 of the competition.
Bow River FFA was selected as one of the six Wyoming chapters to send in National Chapter application for consideration on the national level. They were selected as a Three Star Chapter.
This means that Bow River FFA is in the top three percent in the country. The application presented Bow River FFA activities in the areas of Growing Leaders, Building Communities, and Advancing Agriculture. There are 8,568 chapters nationwide and Bow River is among the top 250.
“Our members have a lot to be proud of and celebrate.” Jim Copeland, Superintendent of Carbon County School District No 2 said.
The FFA is a national youth organization of 653,359 student members as part of 8,568 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The organization is supported by 344,239 alumni members in 2,051 local FFA alumni chapters throughout the U.S.
The FFA states its mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
The FFA operates under a federal charter granted by the 81st United States Congress and it is an integral component of public instruction in agriculture. The U.S. Department of Education provides leadership and helps set direction for FFA as a service to state and local agricultural education programs.
