Multiple agencies respond to shooting reports east of Riverside, one injured, two apprehended
On July 30, the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 12:30 p.m. The call, according to the press release received from the sheriff’s office, reported “shots being fired and rounds hitting multiple residences” located in the Cherokee Meadows subdivision east of Riverside along Highway 230.
Response to the reported shots included deputies from the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Wyoming Highway Patrol and South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Services. While on route to the location, it was reported that a woman had been struck in the knee by one of the rounds fired.
The woman, a resident of Cherokee Meadows, was transported to Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, according to the press release. As of press time, the woman was reported to be in stable condition.
Law enforcement officers located two individuals within the vicinity of Cherokee Meadows who had been shooting. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident and alter transported to the Carbon County Jail.
Following the location and subsequent apprehension of the two individuals, a canvas was made of the area in and around Cherokee Meadows to determine whether any additional people had been injured. The canvas resulted in no further report of injuries.
The names of the two individuals apprehended and the woman injured have not been released at this time.
