Battle of the badge

Law enforcement and firefighters will face off for fire equipment, Hale to be tazed if goal reached

One of the many events that will be available for residents and tourists alike to attend during Togie Days will be the Battle of the Badges. Organized by Carbon County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Hale, the event will be raising money for the Saratoga Volunteer Fire Department. Starting at 11 a.m. on June 30 and running until 1 p.m. at the Saratoga Football field, the event will be more than just watching the Saratoga Police Department and the SVFD go head-to-head.

An inflatable obstacle course will be set up for children to participate in while others can watch a tug-of-war between the SPD and the SVFD as well as take part in a tug-of-war between emergency personnel and the public. At the end of the event, a flag football game between SPD and SVFD will take place.

Attendees will also get the chance to meet members of the Army National Guard.

With a goal of $1,500 to be raised for the SVFD, Hale has stated that he will volunteer to be tazed with 50,000 volts should the goal be reached.

Cost of the event is by donation and all proceeds will go to the SVFD.
