HEM competes at Natrona due to bad weather in Big Piney
The Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow Miners track team was supposed to go to Big Piney for a meet, but the weather forced the team to go to the Natrona Hy-Tek meet in Casper instead on Friday.
“We had nine athletes compete and had nine give it their all on Friday,” Jackie Jones, head coach, said. “We had athletes compete at a high level with great competition at the meet.”
In the girls 100 meter race, Taylor Scott placed 5th and Amy Campbell came in 7th out of a field of 90 contestants. The girls 200 meter had Scott finish 4th and Campbell 10th in a race that 77 girls ran. The 1600 sprint relay had the Lady Miner crew come in 5th. The four on the team were Scott, Campbell, her sister Madison Campbell and Sabrina Gellar. The girls triple jump had Scott place 2nd. The girls team came in 10th out of all the schools.
In the 100 meter race, Conor McGraw finished 7th. The 400 meter race had Shane McGraw come in 3rd. In the 110 meter race, Conor McGraw came in 7th and in the 300 meter hurdle, Conor McGraw came in 2nd. The Miners came in 7th of all the teams.
“Conor McGraw and Taylar Scott were able to qualify in additional events,” Jones said. “Many times and distances were improved, and the kids are looking forward to future meets.”
