As the Christian Holy Week arrives, many area churches are offering special services. Following is a list of those services from all the churches the Saratoga Sun was able to contact.
EASTER WEEK
SERVICES
Abundant Life Church
The Abundant Life Church will be holding their Easter service at 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 1 at 211 North First Street in Saratoga.
Christian Community Church
The Christian Community Church will hold an Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday April 1 at Grand View Park in Encampment followed by a potluck brunch at the church located 3.5 miles north of Encampment on Highway 230. The group will also be holding a separate Easter service at 9 a.m. in the church.
Encampment
Presbyterian Church
A simple soup and bread Maundy Thursday supper followed by a bread and wine remembrance of Jesus' last supper will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday March 29 at the Encampment Presbyterian Church at 918 Rankin Street in Encampment.
The church will also be observing Easter during a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday April 1 at Grand View Park in Encampment.
First Baptist Church
The First Baptist church will be holding their Easter observance at 11 a.m. at their 300 South Adams church in Hanna.
First Presbyterian Church
The First Presbyterian church will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 29 and a traditional Easter service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 1. Both services will be held at their 3rd and Bridge St. location in Saratoga.
St. Ann's Catholic Church
St. Ann's Catholic Church, at 211 West Spring Street in Saratoga, will be holding a Holy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29. The church will also have a Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 30.
Sunday, April 1 St. Ann's will hold an Easter Sunday service at 10 a.m. and Easter Vigil that evening beginning at 8:30 p.m.
St. Barnabas Church
St. Barnabas will hold a Maundy Thursday foot washing service and communion at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 29 at the church at 106 West Main Street in Saratoga. Friday, a Stations of the Cross service will be held at noon in "The Journey" labyrinth beside the church weather permitting. If the weather is bad, the service will be held inside the church. An Easter service will also be held at 9 a.m. followed by an Easter brunch in the church on Sunday, April 1.
St. James Episcopal Church
St. James Episcopal will be having their Easter service at 9 a.m. at the church located on McCaffrey Street in Encampment.
St. Joseph's Church
St. Joseph's Catholic church will hold a Holy Mass at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, a Good Friday service at noon on Friday, March 30 and their Easter Mass at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 1. These will be held at their 3 Heather Drive location in Hanna.
St. Luke's Church
St. Luke's Episcopal will be holding their Easter service at 10:30 a.m. at the church located at 220 Pine St. in Medicine Bow.
Platte Valley
Christian Center
The Platte Valley Christian Center/Assembly of God will be holding a Good Friday communion at noon, Friday, March 30. Easter Sunday the church will be having a breakfast at 9 a.m., Sunday school at 10 a.m. and an Easter worship service at 11 a.m. All these functions will be held at the church at Seventh and Main Street in Saratoga.
EASTER EGG HUNTS
Saratoga Care Center
The Saratoga Care Center will hold an Easter Egg hunt complete with photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31 at their 207 East Holly St. location in Saratoga. The hunt includes a drawing for a big bunny and other prizes. Kids 12 and under. Little hunters will get a head start on the hunt.
Encampment/
Riverside VFD
The Encampment/Riverside Volunteer Fire Department will hold an Easter Egg hunt for preschoolers to sixth graders at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31 at Rick Martin Memorial Park in Riverside.
Medicine Bow
Lions Club
The Medicine Bow Lions club will hold their Easter Egg hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31 at Cottonwood Street Park in Medicine Bow.
Hanna Rec. Center
An Easter Egg hunt in Hanna will take place Saturday, March 31 at the Hanna Recreation Center.
