Serving the Platte Valley since 1888
Carbon County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) is spearheading the second year of Leadership Carbon County. Partners in this effort again include the Rawlins Chamber of Commerce, Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Rawlins DDA Main Street, and Carbon County Higher Education Center. Nine graduates of the inaugural class are serving on the committee to help plan next year’s sessions.
Leadership Carbon County is organized for the purpose of identifying key individuals with leadership qualities and concern for the future of Carbon County. The intent is to provide an educational program to familiarize participants with the county’s opportunities, needs, resources, issues, and to inspire citizens to assume leadership roles in their communities.
Class size will be limited to twelve people on a first come-first serve basis. County wide participation is desired. Classes will be held one weekday a month beginning late January and ending in July. Tuition cost is $350 per person which includes all training materials, meals and bus transportation. Attendance is required for all seven sessions. We are looking for businesses to sponsor a student as well.
The seven sessions to be held consist of a leadership kickoff beginning Jan. 18. Other dates and their sessions are the following:
Feb. 15: Education and Workforce Development
Feb. 28: Legislative Day in Cheyenne
March 20: Government and non-profits
April 19: Healthcare and Social Services
May 17: Industry
June 21: Agriculture and Tourism
July 19: Celebration Dinner
Students will also work on a class project together. Students who have completed the program will assist with the coordinating the 2019 Leadership program. Sponsoring businesses will need to support the participation of their employee and allow him/her the necessary time to attend the sessions and complete the program.
Application forms and further information are available by contacting Carbon County Economic Development Corporation at 307-324-3836 or emailing [email protected]. Forms are available on the website. The deadline for applying and payment of tuition is December 20. In the case of more than twelve applicants, the committee will choose two alternates in case a member of the class has to drop out before sessions begin. They will also have first consideration in the next session.
