It has been six weeks since the pool at the Hanna Recreation Center had to be closed for repairs to the pipe draining into the scrubber box that starts the filtration.
"We had to have it special manufactured and then installed, but now it is working well," said Vivian Gonzales, Recreation and Parks director.
Repairs ended up costing $3500.
While the pool was down, Gonzales says the recreation center spent time getting the pool area more clean, training more lifeguards and got another pool operator certified.
Wednesday the pool was back in business at 6 a.m. with new hours.
Tuesday through Friday hours are 6-9:30 a.m. and 4-7:30 p.m. Saturday the pool will be open 1-4:30 p.m.
The pools opening coincides with the unveiling of the outside patio where members can relax when out of the pool.
"The hours were changed to be conducive to families utilizing the facility more than it was before," said Gonzales.
Tina May, a recepetionist for the Hanna Recreation Center agreed with Gonzales about families being able to use it together with the facility being open on Saturdays.
Members who showed up Wednesday morning were ecstatic.
"I've missed it," said Gladys Buswell, a member. "I've been biking in the morning but it's so good to have the pool back."
Lavonne Tlustos, a member for many years, commented, "We've missed it. I need it."
Sandie Combs, the new certified pool operator and maintenance engineer credited for much of the cleanliness of the pool said, "The pool is the mainstay of the recreation center and it was really missed."
Members agreed, the opening has come at a good time.
