Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom (WAIC) recently hosted the 23rd Annual Agriculture and Natural Resource Bookmark Contest for Wyoming second to fifth grade students. The 2017 theme was “Wyoming Stewardship.”
The contest is one of the many WAIC programs that promotes agriculture awareness for Wyoming students. Thousands of entries were submitted.
Locally, the Snowy Range Cattlewomen and Saratoga-Encampment-Rawlins Conservation District provided additional support for the WAIC Bookmark Contest and selected local winners. The organizations provided agriculture and beef education to students at Encampment and Saratoga Elementary Schools. Representatives provided examples of what Wyoming stewardship means and why it is important. Students received gold, silver, or bronze medals for their creations.
Bookmarks from the county were sent on to Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom to compete in statewide competition. Rainey Powell of Encampment was a People’s Choice Award Honorable Mention winner in the state contest.
