Bleeding for health

Wellness screenings offer heath savings across east Carbon County

Annual health screenings offered through Wyoming Health and Wellness Fairs will be held in the area April 18–22.

A portion of the proceeds from these events will be given back to the community in the form of scholarships, support for other events and additional projects.

Saratoga coordinator Sue Jones said blood draws are scheduled for Saratoga, Encampment and Hanna

Saratoga’s draw will be at the Platte Valley Community Center from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 19 and Thursday, April 20.

The Encampment screening is set for the Encampment Opera House between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22.

Hanna’s fair will be at the Hanna Elementary School between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18.

The Valley Service Organization is coordinating Saratoga’s event while the schools are handling Hanna’s. The Encampment sorority is overall area coordinator this year.

While the costs for these screenings average between $300 and $1,000 at a medical facility, basic blood chemistry screenings are offered for $35 with a wide variety of other screenings and vaccines available for additional nominal fees.

Wyoming Health and Wellness Fairs reminds participants who are not diabetic to fast 12 hours prior to the blood draw, to take medications as usual and to drink plenty of water.
